Program description

The Flamingo Natural Park is a wildlife sanctuary of swamps, lagoons, and forests that guard a delicate ecosystem composed of bird, fish, crustacean, and plant species. The Park is located in the town of Camarones on the Caribbean coast, only 20 minutes away (24 km) from Riohacha. It was declared in 1992 as a site of ecological Heritage in Colombia. It is a place bursting with life and beautiful colors including the turquoise beaches, and the red-orange sand of the dry forest. The park is one of few places in the Caribbean that still offer refuge to the pink flamingo. A species that fills the park with their beautiful pink plumage and their nests that can be built up to 60 cm in height. During this tour we will embark on an ecological excursion through the park, observing the amazing wildlife and beaches. Our guests will sail in traditional canoes across the lagoons of the park, to get a closer look at the sea of birds. The canoe trip is followed by a look into the cultural traditions of the indigenous Wayúu group, who live around the area.
